Friday Finals: Jets widen lead in Midwest with win

Lone Star forward Justin Addamo picked up two assists in a 4-1 win at home over Topeka.

MN Magicians 1 @ Janesville 4 – The Jets poured on 43 shots on goal in a 4-1 win at home to widen their lead in the Midwest Division. The Jets scored three times in the 1st period, which included goals from Carter Ekberg, Tanner Polglaze and Michael Maloney. Peter Bates added a 2nd period goal to complete the Jets scoring. Tanner Tweten had the lone goal for the Magicians. Derek Schaedig made 19 saves in the win, while Ivan Prosuetov made 26 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Johnstown 6 @ Northeast 3 – The Tomahawks picked up a weekend sweep of the Generals thanks to a 6-3 win on Friday afternoon. Joseph Kile and Dalton Hunter each scored twice for the Tomahawks in the win and Vinnie Purpura made 34 saves. For the Generals, Kohei Sato scored twice and had an assist. Other Tomahawks goals came from Samuel Solensky and Filips Buncis, while Devin Pierce had the other marker for the Generals.  David Fessenden made 37 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Topeka 1 @ Lone Star 4 – The Brahmas outshot the RoadRunners 43-13 on route to a 4-1 win at home in front of over 2,400 fans. Four different players scored for the Brahmas and Justin Addamo had two assists. Hunter Stanley scored in the 1st period for Lone Star, David Marabella added a 2nd period goal and Frank Trazzera and Drake Glover scored in the 3rd period. The lone goal for the RoadRunners came from Nigel Nelson. Alec Calvaruso had to make just 12 saves in the win, while Mike Rockwell made 39 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 1 @ Aston 4 – Mareks Mitens made 24 saves as the Rebels posted their NAHL-leading 13th win with a 4-1 triumph over the Knights. The Knights scored first on a goal from Khristian Acosta, but it was all Rebels after that. Carter Woolley tied the game later in the 1st period. Aaron Maguyon added a 2nd period goal and Gianluca Esteves and Andrew Bellant added 3rd period goals. Grant Valentine made 21 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Minot 2 @ Brookings 3 – The Blizzard jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held off a late Minotauros charge as they came away with a 3-2 win. The Blizzard went up 1-0 with a 1st period goal from Zach Mitchell. Brookings added two more goals in the 2nd period from Brandon Kruse and Doug Larson. Minot came back with two goals late in the 2nd period from Nate Pionk and Charles Weiand. Josh Boyko made 22 saves in the win, while Eric Dop made 24 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Springfield 3 @ MN Wilderness 6 – Zach Mills scored twice and added an assist as the Wilderness exploded for six goals in a home win over the Jr. Blues. A three-goal 2nd period was the difference in the win. Tristan Rostagno, Charlie Parker, Dylan Mills and Tim Nicksic had the other goals for the Wilderness, while Max Nylander, Ricards Bernhards and Ryan Leibold scored for the Jr. Blues. Luke Kania made 21 saves in the win, while Devin Cooley made 26 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Odessa 2 @ Shreveport 4 – Four different players scored for Shreveport in their 4-2 win at home over Odessa in front of over 2,600 fans. The Mudbugs got a 1st period goal from Trent Kulczyk, a 2nd period goal from Croix Evingson and two 3rd period goals from Erik Zohovs and Kieran Durgan. Odessa goals came from bothers Zach Zech and Cooper Zech. Dylan Lubbesmeyer made 21 saves in the win, while Jonny Hogue made 35 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Aberdeen 2 @ Bismarck 3 (OT) – Austin Junger scored with less than a minute remaining in overtime to give the Bobcats a 3-2 win over the visiting Wings. After a scoreless 1st period, each team scored twice in the 2nd period with Parker Mismash scoring for Bismarck and Dennis Bernhardtz answering for Aberdeen. Matt Barry added the next Bobcats goal, which was again answered by Aberdeen’s Trystan Isenhour. Will Ulrich made 23 saves in the win, while Matt Ladd made 28 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Kenai River 1 @ Fairbanks 5 – Colton Fletcher scored twice as the Ice Dogs beat the visiting Brown Bears, 5-1 in front of a sold out crowd in Fairbanks. The Ice Dogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead on goals from Aaron McPheters, Hunter Wendt and Daniel Haider. The Brown Bears made it 3-1 late in the 2nd period with a goal from Shayne Monahan. Fletcher added both his goals in the 3rd period to make it a 5-1 final. Josh Sarlo made 17 saves in the win, while Bailey Seagraves made 25 saves in the loss. Boxscore
