New Jersey goalie Bussi makes NCAA DI commitment

October 11, 2016
The New Jersey Titans, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that goaltender Brandon Bussi has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey and attend school at St. Lawrence University following his junior career beginning in the fall of 2018.

“The Titans gave me an opportunity to showcase myself in one of the top junior leagues in the world,” said Bussi. “The coaching staff supported me and helped me develop in the short time I've been here.”

Bussi, 18, is in his first season with New Jersey and has a 1-2-0 record with a 2.43 goals against average and 91.9% save percentage along with one shutout.

New Jersey selected the Sound Beach, New York native in the 10th Round of the 2016 NAHL Draft this past summer.

“St. Lawrence began watching me over the summer this year.  I had a strong camp and the coaching staff stayed in touch with me.  I visited St. Lawrence in late July and while with the Titans they offered me a great opportunity,” he said. “St. Lawrence wants me as the goalie who can play a majority of the games and to be a major piece in winning a National Championship.”

St. Lawrence University competes in the ECAC (NCAA Division I) and is coached by Mark Morris, who is in his first season.

“We couldn’t be more proud and happy for Brandon and his family.  Obviously Bobby [DiRico] and I have known Brandon for some years now dating back to our time in Long Island.  Brandon has been a great goaltender for years now and we are so happy he was recognized for his talent.  Brandon has worked tirelessly on and off the ice to earn this special opportunity,” said Titans head coach and general manager, Craig Doremus.

“Brandon has a bright future ahead of him in this game.  We look forward to having him be a large part of our team this year and continuing to improve.  Coach Morris is getting an unbelievable young man.  We can’t wait to follow Brandon throughout his college career.”

The New Jersey Titans would like to congratulate Brandon and his family on this wonderful accomplishment.
