March 8, 2016
Max Mettler was one of four Minot players with two points in their 4-1 win on Tuesday night.
Aberdeen 1 @ Minot 4 – Lucas Murray made 38 saves and Matt Jennings scored twice to lead the Minot Minotauros to a 4-1 home win over the visiting Aberdeen Wings on Tuesday night. The win moved Minot back into a 1st place tie in the Central Division with the Bismarck Bobcats with 63 points apiece.
It took 12 minutes for the Minotauros to get on the board in the 1st period as Jared Brandt scored his 5th goal of the season with assists to Sam Fuss and Chase Springman.
In the 2nd period, the Minotauros would seize control of the game late in the frame with two goals just over a minute apart as Derek Frentz scored his 15th goal of the season with another assist to Springman and one to Max Mettler. Just 1:07 later, it was Jennings, who lit the lamp for his first of the night with assists to Max Reisinger and Mettler.
Midway through the 3rd period, Aberdeen got on the board with a goal from Jackson Graalum with assists coming to Carter Roo and Kevin Fitzgerald, but it would be all that Murray and the Minotauros would give up as Jennings added an empty-net goal in the final seconds to complete the scoring as Reisinger picked up his second assist of the game.
While Jennings finished with two goals, Reisinger, Mettler and Springman all had two assists apiece. Wings goalie Peter Thome made 29 saves in the loss. The Wings still sit three points clear of both the Minnesota Magicians and Brookings Blizzard for the 4th and final playoff spot in the Division.
