Saturday Scores: Jets cruise to sweep

Kenai River 2 @ Janesville 6 – Adam Winborg and Andrew Roye each scored twice as the Jets completed a weekend sweep of Kenai River with a 6-2 win on Saturday. The Jets jumped out to a 3-0 lead on goals from Winborg, Roye and Martin Sundberg. Mike Taormina scored his first goal of the season for Kenai River to cut into the lead, but Janesville answered with three more goals including another from both Roye and Winborg on power plays and the sixth goal from Cole Paskus. Jake Hartje had the other goal for the Brown Bears. Jack LaFontaine made 22 saves in the win, while Nick Nast made 35 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Topeka 1 @ Wichita Falls 2 – Justin Kapelmaster made 22 saves to help the Wildcats complete a weekend home sweep of the RoadRunners with a 2-1 win. It was the RoadRunners who got on the board first as Johnny Walker scored in the 1st period to make it 1-0. The Wildcats tied the game at 1-1 in the 2nd period as Adam Goodsir lit the lamp. The game-winner came midway through the 3rd period on the power play as Austin Beaulieu scored. Topeka goalie Juho Niku made 31 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Fairbanks 3 @ Springfield 2 (SO) – The Ice Dogs picked up a weekend road sweep of the Jr. Blues thanks to a 3-2 shootout win on Saturday. Fairbanks jumped out to a 1-0 lead with an early 1st period goal from Mitchell Baumann. The Jr. Blues then took a 2-1 lead minutes later as Matt Long scored two goals in a two-minute span to put Springfield ahead. The game remained 2-1 until midway through the 3rd period as Todd Burgess scored on the power play. In the shootout, Adam Anderson scored the lone goal to give the Ice Dogs the win. CJ Boothe made 25 saves in the win, while Tommy Nappier made 30 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 3 @ New Jersey 4 (SO) – The Titans survived a late comeback attempt by the Knights and ended up winning in a shootout, which completed a weekend home-and-home sweep. The Titans led 2-0 on goals from Raymond Brice and Tony DeVito. The Knight cut into the lead with a goal from Jacob Hamacher. New Jersey went back up by two with a goal from Jesse Farabee. The Knights scored twice in the 3rd period to tie the game at 3-3 and Aiden Beck and Tanner Bennett scored.  In the shootout, Roberts Smits and Farabee scored for the Titans to pick up the win. Titans goalie Spencer Wright made 33 saves, while Knights goalie Andrey Svistunov made 43 saves. Boxscore

MN Wilderness 4 @ MN Magicians 1 – The Wilderness outshot the Magicians 42-11 on their way to their second win of the weekend in a 4-1 victory in Richfield against the Magicians. The Wilderness led 2-0 after the 1st period thanks to goals from Brian Hurley and Ashton Calder. The lead increased to 3-0 early in the 2nd period with a power play goal from Ryan Bloom. The Magicians got their lone goal less than three minutes later from Jack Christensen. Janis Jaks added a 3rd period goal to complete the scoring for the Wilderness. Luke Kania had to make just 10 saves in the win, while Will Ulrich made 38 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Minot 3 @ Aberdeen 4 (OT) – Jackson Graalum scored a natural hat-trick, which included the overtime-winner as the Wings beat the visiting Minotauros, 4-3. After an opening goal from Carter Roo on the power play, which gave the Wings a 1-0 lead, Minot scored three goals from Austin Martinsen, Jack Murphy and Troy Degler to take a 3-1 lead into the 3rd period. The Wings stormed back in the 3rd period with a pair of goals from Graalum, who scored his second goal to tie the game at 3-3 with just :03 second remaining. Graalum’s overtime winner came on a 3 on 1 rush. Peter Thome made 27 saves in the win, while Gunner Rivers made 30 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Lone Star 4 @ Corpus Christi 2 – Lone Star won the rubber match of a three game series in Corpus Christi with a 4-2 win on Saturday, which gave them two wins on the weekend. It was all Brahmas in the first half of the game as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead, which included three 1st period goals from Dalton Skelly, Bud Madej and Cameron Clarke. Johan Lundgren scored early in the 2nd period to make the score 4-0. The IceRays got a goal late in the 2nd period from Drake Lindsay and another late in the 3rd period from Colton Meekhof to make the final score, 4-2. Conor O’Brien made 27 saves in the win, while Graham Hunt made 24 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Bismarck 5 @ Brookings 1 – Hunter Shepard made 26 saves to lead the Bobcats to a 5-1 win in Brookings on Saturday, which moved Bismarck back into a tie for 1st place in the Central with 53 points. It was all Bobcats from the start as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead, which included two 1st period goals from Tobias Fladeby and Kyle Sylvester and 2nd period goals from Cole Souto and Aaron Herdt. TJ Samec scored the lone goal for the Blizzard late in the 2nd period. Alex Strand added a 3rd period goal for Bismarck to make the final score, 5-1. Boxscore

Odessa 5 @ Amarillo 2 – The Jackalopes came from behind to score four goals in the 3rd period to defeat the Bulls 5-2 and earn a weekend split. Pierce Pluemer had two goals and Daniel Kiraly added three assists. After a scoreless 1st period, the Bulls led 2-1 after two periods thanks to goals from Jeff Solow and Joey Molinaro. Pluemer had the lone goal for Odessa in the 2nd period. All four Odessa goals in the 3rd period came in a seven minute span as Pluemer added his second, while Nate Werhane, Derek Brown and Jon Russell all scored. Dean Shatzer made 31 saves in the win. Austin 2 @ Coulee Region 3 (OT) – Nico Luka scored on a 2 on 1 :36 seconds into overtime to give the Chill a 3-2 home win over the visting Bruins. Coulee Region jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a 1st period goal from Larry Jungwirth. Austin then took a 2-1 lead with a 2nd period goal from Jan Stefka and a 3rd period goal from Jade Miller. The Chill tied the game later in the 3rd period with a goal from Justin Kendall, which ultimately forced overtime. Matiss Kivlenieks made 14 saves in the win, while Kris Carlson made 27 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Aston 3 @ Johnstown 0 – Trevor Micucci stopped all 19 shots that came his way for his third shutout of the season as the Rebels salvaged a weekend split with the Tomahawks thanks to a 3-0 shutout win on Saturday. After a scoreless 1st period, the Rebels took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd period with goals from Jerry Miettuten and Dean Balsamo. In the 3rd period, Andrew Bellant added an empty-net goal to complete the scoring. Ryan Glander made 22 saves in the loss. Boxscore
