Saturday Scores: Bruins take back top spot in Central

Fairbanks 4 @ Johnstown 0 – Gavin Nieto stopped all 16 shots that came his way for his 4th shutout of the season as Fairbanks completed a weekend road sweep of Johnstown with a 4-0 win on Saturday. Fairbanks got a 1st period goal from Josef Ingman, 2nd period goals from Reggie Lutz and Ryner Gorowsky and another goal in the 3rd period from Lutz to complete the scoring. Johnstown goalie Andrew Lindgren made 27 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Springfield 0 @ Coulee Region 1 – Matiss Kivlenieks stopped all 33 shots that came his way for his 2nd shutout of the season as the Chill completed a weekend home sweep of the Jr. Blues with a 1-0 win on Saturday. The lone goal of the game came in the 2nd period courtesy of Joey Sofo with assists to Alex Falconer and Shane Kuzmeski. Tommy Nappier played very well in goal for the Jr. Blues, making 46 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Aberdeen 1 @ Austin 4 – The Bruins completed a weekend sweep of the Wings thanks to a 4-1 win on Saturday. Most of the Bruins damage was done in the 1st period as they led 3-1 thanks to goals from Michael Piehler, Paul O’Connor and Gibert Gabor.  Tucker DeYoung had the lone goal for the Wings. In the 3rd period Justin Misiak added a 3rd period goal to cement the win. Robbie Goor made 24 saves in the win, while Peter Thome made 33 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Corpus Christi 2 @ Wichita Falls 6 – For the second straight night the Wildcats picked up a 6-2 win over the IceRays, completing a weekend sweep. The IceRays led 2-1 after one period thanks to goals from Colton Meekhof and Keenan Spillum. Adam Goodsir had the lone tally in the 1st period for Wichita Falls. The 2nd period was all Wildcats as they got four goals from Jonathan Lazarus, Garrett VanWyhe, Erich Jaeger and another from Goodsir to take a 5-2 lead. Lazarus added another in the 3rd period. Justin Kapelmaster made 29 saves in the win. Boxscore

Odessa 1 @ Lone Star 4 – The Brahmas defense allowed just 12 shots on goal as they completed a weekend sweep of the Jacks thanks to a 4-1 win on Saturday. After a scoreless 1st period, the Brahmas got two goals in the 2nd period from Joseph Fallon and Martin Mellberg and two goals in the 3rd period from Dalton Skelly and Peter Kessel. Andrew McLean had the lone goal for Odessa. Corbin Kaczperski had to make just 11 saves in the win, while Dean Shatzer made 24 saves in the loss. Boxscore

MN Magicians 2 @ MN Wilderness 4 – Janis Jaks scored twice and added an assist to lead the Wilderness to a 4-2 home win over the Magicians, completing a weekend sweep. The Magicians led early on a goal from Kyle Wagner, but the Wilderness responded with two goals from Jaks. The Magicians tied the game on a goal from Kyle Amundson in the 2nd period, but goals later in the game from Aaron Miller and Isak Bergland secured the win for the Wilderness. Luke Kania made 20 saves in the win, while Will Ulrich made 41 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Kenai River 4 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 2 – The Brown Bears snapped a 30-game losing streak and picked up their second win of the season thanks to 51 saves from Nick Nast in a 4-2 win in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, which salvaged a weekend split. The Brown Bears led 2-0 after the 1st period thanks to goals from Sam Carlson and Jordan Hank. Bayley Marshall scored in the 2nd period and Joey Sardina added a 3rd period goal. Knights goals came from Zach Remers and Tanner Bennett. Grant Valentine made 35 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Minot 6 @ Bismarck 5 – The Minotauros salvaged a weekend split in Bismarck thanks to a wild 6-5 win. Minot scored two times in each period, which included two 1st period goals from Christian Mohs, 2nd period goals from Chase Springman and Zack Bross and 3rd period goals from Austin Martinsen and Tyler Jeanson. Bismarck scored three goals in the 1st period from Willie Brown, Solag Bakich and Patrik Demel. Other goals came from Jordan Fralich and Travis Wood. Lucas Murray made 18 saves in the win. Boxscore

Brookings 3 @ Janesville 4 (OT) – Cullen Munson scored 3:15 into overtime to give the Jets a 4-3 win and salvage a weekend home split with the Blizzard. The Jets led 3-1 after two periods on goals from Peter Bates, Dawson DiPietro and Connor Inger. The Blizzard got a 1st period goal from Chase Gamelin and stormed back in the 3rd period with goals from Brett Callahan and Nick Ford to tie the game at 3-3. Blake Weyrick made 28 saves in the win, while Jacob Gwillim made 24 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Aston 4 @ New Jersey 0 – Darion Hanson stopped all 35 shots that came his way for his second shutout of the season as the Rebels moved back into a 1st place tie in the East with a 4-0 win on the road in New Jersey against the Titans. Aston got 1st period goals from Gvido Jansons and Dean Balsamo.  Then they got back-to-back goals from Ryan Solomon in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Spencer Wright made 13 saves in the New Jersey loss.
