Friday Finals: Fladeby's big night paces Bobcats to win

Minot 2 @ Bismarck 4 – Tobias Fladeby scored twice and Hunter Shepard made 26 saves to lead the Bobcats to a 4-2 home win over the Minotauros on Friday. Things were tied at 2-2 after two periods after Fladeby and Oskars Batna scored for Bismarck and Jack Murphy answered with both tallies for Minot. In the 3rd period a goal from Alex Strand midway through the frame would prove to be the difference. Fladeby would later add an empty-net goal for his second of the game to extend his point streak to five games. Minot goalie Lucas Murray made 32 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Aston 5 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 3 – Goalie Trevor Micucci made 39 saves and five different players scored to lead the Rebels to a 5-3 road win in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Aston opened up a 2-0 lead with 1st period goals from Connor Wood and Ben Allen. Dean Balsamo added a 2nd period goal and Dom Garcia and Frank Spellman scored in the 3rd period. Knights goals came from Zach Remers in the 2nd period and Dmitriy Zaitsev and Tanner Bennett in the 3rd period. Grant Valentine made 21 saves in the loss. Boxscore

New Jersey 0 @ Johnstown 1 – A 1st period goal from Tommy Horn stood up as the game’s only goal and the game-winner as the Tomahawks stayed hot with a 1-0 home shutout of the 1st place Titans. Ryan Glander posted his first career NAHL shutout with 20 saves. New Jersey goalie Spencer Wright also played well in the loss, making 30 saves and giving up just the one goal. Drew Doyon and Kelly O’Brien picked up assists for the Tomahawks. Boxscore

Aberdeen 0 @ Austin 3 – Kris Carlson stopped all 29 shots that came his way for his 2nd shutout of the year as Austin picked up a 3-0 home win over the visiting Wings. Austin started the scoring early with 1st period goals from William Ridell and Michael Piehler. Piehler, who played the entire season with Granite City in the NA3HL and was playing in his just his 4th NAHL game, then scored his second goal of the game in the 2nd period to provide Austin with the 3-0 final. Wings goalie Peter Thome made 31 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Corpus Christi 5 @ Odessa 4 (OT) – The Corpus Christi IceRays completed a weekend road sweep of the Jackalopes with a 5-4 overtime win. Tobias Kircher was credited with the overtime-winning goal. The IceRays opened up a 3-2 lead in the 1st period with two goals from Andy McGlynn and Brad Power. Odessa answered with goals from Brandon Tucker and Connor Stuart. Eric Carreras would tie the game at 3-3 midway through the 2nd period, but the IceRays would again take the lead on a goal from Regen Cavanagh. A goal from Odessa forward Oliver Celec tied the game at 4-4. IceRays goalie Graham Hunt made 31 saves in the win. Boxscore

Coulee Region 3 @ Springfield 1 - Hunter Vorva made 42 saves to lead the Coulee Region Chill to a 3-1 win on the road in Springfield, snapping the Chill’s four-game losing streak. After a scoreless 1st period, the Chill jumped ahead 2-0 early in the 2nd period with goals from Scott Corbett and Isaac Theisen.  The Jr. Blues cut into the lead with a late 2nd period goal from Brennan Blaszczak. A 3rd period goal from Chill defenseman Matt Doran, his first of the season, provided the rest of the cushion. Jr. Blues goalie Tommy Nappier made 24 saves in the losing effort, which was Springfield’s 5th loss in a row. Boxscore

Janesville 1 @ Brookings 4 – Magnus Lindhe, who just joined the Blizzard from the NA3HL’s Breezy Point North Stars, made 25 saves in his NAHL’s debut to help Brookings snap Janesville’s six-game winning streak with a 4-1 home win. The Blizzard got a 1st period goal from Nick Ford and a 2nd period tally from Griff Jeszka to open up a 2-0 lead. The Jets closed the gap to one on a goal from Adam Winborg, but empty-net goals from Garrett Elmore and Kane Durment secured the win for Brookings. Jack LaFontaine made 18 saves in the loss. Fairbanks 4 @ Kenai River 1 – The Ice Dogs were dominant in a 4-1 win in Kenai River as they handed the Brown Bears their 21st straight loss. Fairbanks led 2-0 after the first two periods as Ryner Gorowsky and Josef Ingman scored. Gorowsky found the back of the net again in the 3rd period and Liam Stirtzinger also added a goal for Fairbanks.  Ice Dogs goalie Gavin Nieto made 16 saves in the win. Nicolas Nast registered 32 saves and Kenai River reserve goalie Brian Baker made 10 stops. Boxscore
