Chill edge Blizzard 2-1 in lone NAHL game on Sunday

February 16, 2015

Adam Carlson made 25 saves in his return to the Chill line-up after being sidelined two weeks with an injury.

Brookings 1 @ Coulee Region 2 – The Coulee Region Chill snapped a four-game losing streak and edged closer to a playoff spot in the Midwest Division with a 2-1 home win on Sunday night in the lone game in the NAHL.

Things got off to a fast start in the 1st period as Brookings took a 1-0 lead as Connor Hutchins scored the opening goal as he tapped in a loose rebound after a save from Adam Carlson, who stopped a drive from Zed Dietrich to the net. Joe Nathe and Dietrich picked up the assists on the goal.

The Chill answered two minutes later as Garrett Riebling fired home a shot from the left circle on a 2 on 1 that beat Brookings goalie Ryan Kubic far side to knot the game at 1-1.  Dawson DiPietro and Joe Rutkowski picked up the assists on the goal.

After a scoreless 2nd period in which both Kubic and Carlson were very sharp, the game-winner came with just under five minutes remaining in the contest as Adam Lovick raced up the ice down the right win and fired a great shot over the shoulder of Kubic for the eventual game-winner. Eddie Matsushima and Richard Zehnal picked up the assists.

Adam Carlson picked up the win in goal, making 25 saves, while Kubic took the loss, making 26 saves.
