Saturday Scores: Wenatchee completes 3-game sweep of Kenai River

Keystone 4 @ Michigan 1 – AJ Coleman had a three-point night and Alex Blankenburg made 39 saves to help the Ice Miners to a 4-1 win and weekend road sweep of the Michigan Warriors. Keystone is now 10-1-1 in their last 12 games. Coleman scored in the 1st period as did Noah Batis to put the Ice Miners ahead, 2-0. Michigan responded with their lone goal of the game, which came off the stick of Mitch Wedding in the 2nd period. Matt Jones and Ji Young Li scored two more goals in the 3rd period to secure the win for Keystone. Boxscore

Janesville 6 @ Soo 4 – For the second straight night the Jets scored six goals and completed a weekend road sweep of the Eagles with a 6-4 win. Brandon Schultz was the big offensive star for the Jets as for the second straight night the Janesville forward had two goals and an assist. Other Janesville goals came from Drew Callin in the 1st period and Mitch Fossier, Kevin Dineen and Zach Lavalle in the 2nd period. The Eagles goals came from Brad Pung and Sandis Zolmanis in the 1st period and Matt Menta and Denver Pierce in the 2nd period. Evan Feno also had two assists for the Jets. Boxscore

Wenatchee 9 @ Kenai River 3 – The Wild offense showed up in full force for the 3rd straight game as Wenatchee completed a three-game road sweep of the Brown Bears with a 9-3 win on Saturday. Wenatchee scored 20 goals in the three-game sweep. The Wild jumped ahead 2-0 on goals from Dakota Raabe and Colin Burston. Kenai River tied the game early in the 2nd period on goals from Matt Rudin and Maurin Bouvet. The Wild then scored seven of the next eight goals including two from Andre Pison and others from Stevie Bryant, Brendan Harris, Kyle Stephan, Ryan Chiasson and August Von Ungern-Sternberg. Boxscore

Corpus Christi 6 @ Odessa 4 – The Corpus Christi IceRays completed a three-game weekend road sweep of the Odessa Jackalopes with a 6-4 win on Saturday. The IceRays scored twice in each period in a balanced offensive attack. Ryan Cusin and Anthony Cortese both scored in the 1st period, Connor Kelly and Mason Kreuger added 2nd period goals and Cortese added another goal in the 3rd period along with a goal from Wes Michaud. Christian Hausinger scored twice for Odessa and Razmuz Waxin-Engback and Corey Hoffman also found the back of the net for the Jackalopes. Boxscore

Austin 8 @ MN Magicians 1 – Alex Pettersson had four assists and Josh Wilkins and Alex Jasiek each scored twice as the Bruins cruised to a 8-1 road win on Saturday, completing a weekend home-and-home sweep of the Magicians. Austin led 4-0 early in the 2nd period on two goals from Jasiek and others from Wilkins and Zack Kennedy. After Brady Jones scored the lone Magicians goal to make it 4-1, Austin scored four more unanswered goals including another from Wilkins and others from Ian Scheid, Nico Sturm and Cory Dunn. Evan Smith played well in goal for the Bruins, making 20 saves in the win. Boxscore

Johnstown 4 @ Springfield 2 – The Tomahawks completed a three-game road weekend sweep of the Jr. Blues to help their playoff positioning thanks to a 4-2 win on Saturday night. Ryan Bednard made 28 saves in the win and Trevor Recktenwald, Casey Linkenheld and Cam Bleck all had multi-point games. After a deadlocked 1st period which saw Adam Ostrowski score for the Tomahawks and Grant Meyer score for the Jr. Blues, Johnstown scored three straight goals in the 2nd period to break the game open including goals from Recktenwald, Tanner Barnes and Filips Buncis. Anthony Mangano had the other Springfield goal. Boxscore

Minot 6 @ Brookings 2 – The 1st place Minotauros scored twice in each period on their way to a 6-2 win, taking three of four points in their weekend road series in Brookings. John Snodgrass scored twice, including the game’s first and last goals. Chase Springman, Colton Kramer, Christian Mohs and Nick Monfils also scored for the Minotauros. Brookings got goals from Nate Colwell and Beau Michaud. Atte Tolvanen made 21 saves in the win, while Ryan Kubic made 38 saves in the loss.

Wichita Falls 4 @ Lone Star 3 – The Wildcats survived a 3rd period comeback attempt by the Brahmas to salvage a weekend split of their weekend series with a 4-3 win on Saturday. Austin Beaulieu gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead with the only goal of the 1st period. The Wildcats added three, 2nd period goals to take a 4-0 lead including markers from Colin Staub, Alex Falconer and Jake Townsend. The Brahmas stormed back in the 3rd period with three goals including strikes from Storm Wahlrab, Roman Uchyn and Ludvig Larsson, but it would not be enough. Austin Shaw made 26 saves in the win. Aberdeen 4 @ Bismarck 2 – Michael Soucier scored twice to give the Wings a lead they would never relinquish as Aberdeen salvaged a weekend split with the Bobcats thanks to a 4-2 win in Bismarck on Saturday. Soucier gave the Wings a 2-0 lead with goals in the 1st and 2nd period. Victor Ostling scored for the Wings to make the score 3-0, before Jared Spooner scored shorthanded to put the Bobcats on the board at 3-1 after two periods. In the 3rd period, Kyle Haak scored for Aberdeen and Cullen Willox added a late goal for the Bobcats. Andrew Shortridge made 35 saves in the win for the Wings. Boxscore

Coulee Region 2 @ Fairbanks 5 – Three 1st period goals were enough for the Ice Dogs as they took the rubber match of a three-game home set against the Chill with a 5-2 win on Saturday. The Ice Dogs jumped ahead 3-0 on goals from Jesper Ohrvall, Todd Burgess and Hans Gorowsky. The Chill responded back in the 2nd period with goals from Eddie Matsushima and Dominik Florian to cut the lead to 3-2 after two periods.  The Ice Dogs put the game away in the 3rd period with two more goals from Burgess and Gorowsky, who each scored their second goals of the night. Patrick Munson made 24 saves in the win. Boxscore

Rio Grande Valley 2 @ Amarillo 4 – The Bulls moved back into the 6th and final playoff spot in the South with a 4-2 home win in front of over 4,000 fans in Amarillo. Charlie Combs scored twice for the Bulls in the win, including the first and last goals of the game. After Combs put the Bulls ahead early in the 1st period, the Killer Bees responded with two goals from Dean Balsamo and Andrew Scofield to take a 2-1 lead. A goal from Tristan Rostagno tied the game at 2-2 in the 2nd period and a goal from Nick Le Sage midway through the 3rd period gave the Bulls the lead for good. Anton Martinsson made 25 saves in the win. Boxscore
