Saturday Scores: Sweep puts Eagles back atop North

MN Wilderness 3 @ Soo 4 – Keegan Miller had another great night to help the Eagles to a weekend home sweep of the Wilderness thanks to a 4-3 win on Saturday. The Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st period on goals from Miller, Nick Belger and Mitch Vanderburg. After Ivan Chukarov answered for Minnesota to make it 3-1, but three minutes later Miller scored his second goals to make it 4-1 after one period. Niklas Lehtimaki and Tobias Bjorklund scored in the 2nd period for the Wilderness, but that would be as close as they would get. Boxscore

Corpus Christi 2 @ Lone Star 5 – Sebastian Vidmar was the star again for the Brahmas as he added two more goals, including his third straight game winner as the Brahmas swept the visiting IceRays. Vidmar opened the game with two goals in the 1st period along with a goal from Johan Steen to put the Brahmas ahead 3-0. The IceRays came back with two goals from Connor Bucsis and Ryan Cusin to make the score 3-2, but Lone Star added two, 3rd period goals from Ludvig Larsson and Liam Stirtzinger to make the final 5-2. Coulee Region 4 @ Janesville 3 (SO) – Adam Carlson made 31 saves and Joe Rutkowski added the shootout winner as the Chill completed a weekend road sweep of the Jets. There was a goal from each team in each of the three periods. Drew Callin, Adam Winborg and Nils Rygaard scored for Janesville, while Jackson Charlesworth, Richard Zehnal and Blake Kelley scored for Coulee Region. Kelley’s goal came with just :15 seconds in regulation to tie the game at 3-3 and send it into extra time. Boxscore

Brookings 4 @ MN Magicians 5 (SO) – The Magicians completed a weekend home and home sweep of the Blizzard thanks to a 5-4 shootout win. Brookings looked good, jumping out to a 3-1 lead thanks to goals from Jimmy Morgan, Viktor Lindell and Garrett Elmore. The Magicians responded with two goals from Lukas Laub and others from Marc Michaelis and Tony Uglem to take a 4-3 lead. Lindell added his second of the game to tie the game at 4-4 after two periods. Kane Durment scored the lone goal in the shootout. Boxscore

Johnstown 0 @ Michigan 3 – Ryan Wischow made 29 saves for his first career NAHL shutout as the Warriors blanked the Tomahawks 3-0 to earn a weekend home split of the series. After a scoreless 1st period, Michigan took a 2-0 lead in the 2nd period on goals from Zed Dietrich and Cody Lichtenvoort. AJ Marcinek added a 3rd period goal to make the final score 3-0. Alex Berardinelli chimed in with two assists. Jake Gwillim made 30 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Odessa 2 @ Topeka 5 – Four, 1st period goals paced the RoadRunners to a 5-2 win on Saturday night. Matej Tomek made 21 saves in the win. Tyler Irvine, Willie Brown, Sam Rennaker and Ryan Polin all scored in the 1st period to put Topeka ahead 4-0. Odessa responded with two goals from Nicholas Carbone and Hampus Sjodahl to close the gap to 4-2, but a save on a penalty shot from Tomek and a goal from Mike Gornall in the 3rd period made the final 5-2. Austin 4 @ Aberdeen 5 (OT) – In an exciting back and forth game, the Wings took advantage of a power play in overtime as Daniel Billett scored the game-winner to lead the Wings to a 5-4 win over the Bruins to split the weekend series. Aberdeen goals in regulation came from Austin Heakins, Collin Hughes, Michael Soucier and Austin Swingle. Bruins goals in regulation came from Pat Lauderdale, Luke Forfar and two from Ian Scheid. Minot 4 @ Fairbanks 3 – Two late 3rd period goals were the difference as Minot snapped Fairbanks home winning streak with a 4-3 win on Saturday to earn a split of the weekend series. Ethan Somoza scored twice for the Ice Dogs and Chandler Madry added the other goal for Fairbanks. Minot goals came from Johnny Walker in the 1st period, James Mathias in the 2nd period and Blake Lizotte and Nick Monfils in the 3rd period. Atte Tolvanen made 32 saves in the win. Boxscore

Bismarck 2 @ Kenai River 5 – Three, 3rd period goals were the difference as the Brown Bears salvaged a weekend home split with Bismark thanks to a 5-2 win. Things were tied at 2-2 after two periods as Bismarck got goals from Evan Giesler and Harrison Aide. Kenai River responded with goals from Joey Sardina and Jack Gessert. In the 3rd period, Nick Klishko scored a power play goal, Maurin Bouvet added a shorthanded goal and Gessert scored his second of the game on an empty-net. Boxscore

Wenatchee 4 @ Rio Grande Valley 3 (OT) – Colin Burston’s second goal of the game came 3:08 into overtime as the Wild salvaged a weekend split with the Killer Bees thanks to a 4-3 overtime win. Things were looking good for the Wild as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st period on goals from Mitch Demario, Andre Pison and Burston. The Killer Bees responded with three straight goals including goals from Dallas Gerads in the 2nd period and Tommy Horn and Anthony Croston in the 3rd period. Boxscore

Keystone 4 @ Springfield 0 – Nick Kossoff stopped all 27 shots that came his way for his first NAHL shutout as the Ice Miners snapped their losing streak with a 4-0 win in Springfield. Noah Batis scored a 1st period goal and Jon Hall, Garrett Hallford and Austin Romzek added 2nd period goals to complete the scoring. Dryden McKay made 37 saves in the loss. Boxscore
