Air Force gets commitment from Wildcats' Quick

September 27, 2009

Wichita Falls' Aaron Quick has a goal after four games to start the 2009-10 season.

The Wichita Falls Wildcats have announced that second-year forward Aaron Quick has committed to the Air Force Academy (Atlantic Hockey) for next season.

The first player from this year’s Wildcats team to decide on a Division I school, Quick, 19, has a goal after four games to start the season.
“It was the best opportunity to continue my future schooling," he said of his commitment. “Plus, it's a great opportunity to play Division I hockey.”
A Monument, Colo., native, Quick also added that the Academy is “right across the highway from my house,” and is excited with the chance to play so close to home.
Quick, who will be joined at Air Force by former Wildcats forward Kyle Delaurell, who is entering his freshman season at the school, appeared in 44 regular-season games last season scoring two goals and adding four assists. He tallied a goal in five playoff contests.

“Air Force is getting more than just a good player; they're getting a great person, too,” said Wildcats head coach John Bowkus.  “Aaron had a tough year last year and we're hoping his play and development this year will help him to become an even better player down the road.

“I'm really excited for him to get this opportunity."

And Quick is eager to get his final season of junior hockey in Wichita Falls off on the right foot.

“I'm looking forward to it,” he said.  “We have a good young group of players that's pretty skilled.  The guys we have returning from last year have great skills and bring some grit, too."
