Eagles beat Jets on Monday, 3-1

Janesville Jets 1 @ Soo Eagles 3 – Soo outshot the Jets 43-27 and finally outlasted them in the later stages of the game to take a 3-1 win on Monday nigh in Sault Ste. Marie. Both goaltenders played well as Nathan Klebe made 26 saves in the win and Logan Halladay made 40 saves in the loss.
It wasn’t until the 2nd period until the scoring began and it was Janesville taking a 1-0 lead early in the frame on a goal from Alex Shuchuk. However, that would be all the Jets would score on this night as the Eagles struck back less than two minutes later on a shorthanded goal from Chase Matson. Before the period would end, Denver Pierce put the Eagles ahead to stay with a goal that made it 2-1.
In the 3rd period, both goalies held the fort until Nick Belger added an empty-net goal with 1:25 to play to secure the win for the Eagles, who moved into 3rd place with the win, one point ahead of Johnstown and just a point behind 2nd place Michigan. With the loss, the Jets remained at 36 points, 10 points out of the 4th and final playoff spot. Matson also picked up an assist in the game for a multi-point night.
