Saturday Scores: Bulls push win streak to nine

Something Bruin: Rookie sensation Guillaume Leclerc had the game-winning goal to help Austin sweep Aberdeen this weekend.

Amarillo Bulls 2 @ Wichita Falls Wildcats 1 – Colin Delia made 18 saves to lead the Bulls to a 2-1 win and weekend sweep of the Wichita Falls Wildcats. The two clubs traded goals in the 1st period with Patrick Pollock scoring for Amarillo and Jake Townsend scoring for the Wildcats. With under three minutes remaining in the 3rd period, Brady Ferguson netted the game-winner for the Bulls. Wildcats goalie David Zevnik made 27 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Topeka RoadRunners 6 @ Springfield Jr. Blues 1 – It was another dominating performance from the NAHL’s top goaltender PJ Bridges as the ‘Runners netminder made 35 saves to lead Topeka to a 6-1 win and weekend sweep in Springfield. Jerad Tafoya and Tyler Poulsen each scored twice for Topeka and Sly Sutter and Jake Kamrass also scored goals. Kamrass ended up with three points on the night. Nik Dotolo had the lone goal for the Jr. Blues. Boxscore

Aberdeen Wings 2 @ Austin Bruins 3 – Rookie Guillaume Leclerc scored with less than three minutes remaining in regulation to give the Austin Bruins a 3-2 come-from-behind win to sweep the Aberdeen Wings. The Wings got off to the fast start they wanted, taking a 2-0 lead in the 1st period on goals from Jake Horton and Jordan Heller. Kyle Haak assisted on both goals. Austin stormed back in the 2nd period with goals from Eli May and Lucas Kohls. Dillon Kelley won his second straight start in goal for the Bruins, making 28 saves. Boxscore

Soo Eagles 3 @ Janesville Jets 2 (SO) – Nathan Klebe made 43 saves and stopped four of five shooters in the shootout to help the Eagles to a weekend road sweep in Janesville. Adam Winborg scored btoh goals for the Jets, but that was countered each time by the Eagles as Scott Cuthrell and Denver Pierce answered each time. In the shootout, Trevor Boyd and Michael Caruso scored for the Eagles, while Drew Callin had the lone Jets goal. Boxscore

Minnesota Magicians 2 @ Kenai River Brown Bears 4 – Matt Rudin scored twice to help the Brown Bears to a 4-2 win and weekend sweep of the Magicians. Rudin gave Kenai River a 1-0 lead in the 1st period. After Colin Hernon tied the game early in the 2nd period, Rudin added his second of the game along with a goal from Alec Butcher to push the Brown Bears lead to 3-1. Nicholas Rivera added the other goal for Minnesota to make it 3-2, but a late power play goal from Jacob Davidson secured the 4-2 win. Boxscore

Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 4 @ Lone Star Brahmas 2 – The Bees rolled to a weekend road sweep against the Brahmas thanks to a 4-2 win on Saturday. Two 3rd period goals was the difference in the game, which was tied at 2-2 after two periods in front of a nice crowd of over 2,200 fans. All of Rio Grande Valley’s goals came via the power play from Ben Greiner, Anthony Croston, Aleksi Luhtalampi and Kevin Antipov. Lone Star goals came from Ryan Watson and Alexey Solovuev. Matt McArdle had three assists for the Killer Bees. Boxscore

Odessa Jackalopes 0 @ Corpus Christi IceRays 4 – Forbes Ploszaj stopped all 20 shots that came his way for his second shutout of the season as the IceRays salvaged a weekend split with the Jackalopes thanks to a 4-0 shutout. After a scoreless 1st period, Trevor Heuser, Nico Sturm and Malo Ville scored in the 2nd period to push the lead to 3-0. Wes Michaud added a 3rd period shorthanded goal to make the final, 4-0. Eric Hancock and Yoshihiro Kuroiwa each made 16 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Johnstown Tomahawks 0 @ Port Huron Fighting Falcons 5 – It took almost two periods, but the Fighting Falcons finally broke through and salvaged a weekend split against the Tomahawks with a 5-0 shutout on Saturday. Max Milosek stopped all 33 shots that came his way for his second shutout of the season. Vito Aluia opened the scoring in the 2nd period for Port Huron. Then Nick Le Sage, Jonathan Kopacka, Zach Badalamenti and Matt Seidel added 3rd period goals. Jake Moore took the loss, making 25 saves. Boxscore

Coulee Region Chill 2 @ Minnesota Wilderness 4 – In an outdoor game as a part of Hockey Day in Minnesota, the Wilderness managed to salvage a weekend split with the Chill thanks to a 4-2 win. After Gordon Wells got the Chill on the board in the 1st period, the Wilderness answered with three goals in the 2nd period from Thomas Lindstrom, Jesse Kessler and Jakob Romo. Blake Kelley made it 3-2 in the 3rd period, but an empty net goal from Jaycob McCombs secured the win. Boxscore

Brookings Blizzard 0 @ Minot Minotauros 1 – Mercyhurst commit Brandon Wildung stopped all 16 shots that came his way for his 3rd shutout of the season as Minot blanked Brookings, 1-0. It took until 5:33 of the 3rd period for either team to score when Minot’s Scott Smoot scored his 3rd goal of the year with an assist to Wesley Iverson. Brookings goalie Connor Girard played well in the loss, making 37 saves. Boxscore

Wenatchee Wild 1 @ Fairbanks Ice Dogs 3 – Three, 3rd period goals propelled the Ice Dogs to a 3-1 win on Saturday to take two of three games in their series against Wenatchee. Wenatchee got on the board first in the 2nd period as Troy Loggins scored. However, in the 3rd period Duggie Lagrone, Wyatt Ege and Colton Wolter scored to give the Ice Dogs the edge and the win. Kevin Aldridge made 19 saves in the win, while Gustaf Johansson took the loss, making 24 saves. Boxscore
