Amarillo defenseman Dineen makes NCAA commitment
The Amarillo Bulls of the North American Hockey league (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Nick Dineen has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Stevenson University.
“I’m extremely excited to be continuing my hockey and academic careers at Stevenson University,” Dineen said. “The growing program that Stevenson provides will give me a great opportunity to grow as a person and a player.”
Dineen, 20, is in his second season with the Amarillo Bulls and has been a valuable piece on the Bulls’ blue line this season.
“We are so excited to announce that Nick will be continuing his academic and hockey career at Stevenson University,” Head Coach Rocky Russo said. “Nick has been one of our most reliable players for the past two seasons and has been a leader on and off the ice.”
During the extended 2020-21 season, Dineen played in 53 games and often was toward the top of the team in time on ice. The 6’0/195 lbs. native of Raleigh, NC, has recorded seven points this season.
"He will be an excellent player for Coach Dawes and his staff,” Russo said.
Stevenson University is located in Owings Mills, MD. The Mustangs are members of the United Collegiate Hockey Conference and started the hockey program in the 2016-17 season.
Dineen joins several of his Bulls teammates in announcing their college commitment this year and will face the Shreveport Mudbugs on Thursday for game three of the division semi-final round.
“I would like to thank my parents and family as well as Coach Russo, Coach Lewis and the entire Bulls organization for the fantastic opportunity the last two seasons.” Dineen said.
