Lone Star forward Heintz makes NCAA commitment
June 14, 2019
The Lone Star Brahmas of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward Zach Heintz has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Adrian College.
Heintz, 20, didn’t spend much time with the Lone Star Brahmas during the 2019-20 season. Nearing the home stretch of last season he joined the team after a trade brought him to NYTEX from the Odessa Jackalopes where the forward played for over two seasons in the NAHL.
While in Odessa, the 5’9/175 lbs. native of Grand Rapids, Michigan appeared in 151 games scoring 35 goals and 64 assists. In just 19 games for the Brahmas, Heintz scored nine goals and seven assists. Overall, Heintz had an outstanding NAHL career with 112 points (41 goals, 71 assists) in 170 games.
Heintz was also selected to and played in the 2019 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the South Division team.
Although it was a short time calling the ice at the NYTEX Sports Centre his home, it still left a lasting impression with the future Bulldog.
“All the boys welcomed me with open arms and helped me feel like part of the team really quick,” Heintz said. “I’ll remember the long video sessions and all the good times I’ve made with the guys for years to come.”
Now, the focus shifts to Heintz’ new home at Arrington Ice Arena. A successful Bulldog program welcomes its newest skater who bought in from the beginning.
“What sold me on committing to Adrian was the balance between a great education and an even better hockey program,” Heintz said. “Of course, being close to home was just an added bonus to the deal.”
