November 19, 2018
Maryland 2 @ Northeast 1 – Recent NA3HL call up Kevin Lake made 38 saves for his first NAHL win of the season and Matteo Menotti and Jonathan Young each had a goal and an assist as the Maryland Black Bears salvaged a weekend split against the Generals thanks to a 2-1 win in the lone NAHL game on Sunday. The win kept the Black Bears in 4th place in the East Division, now three points ahead of the Generals for the final playoff spot.
After a scoreless 1st period, the Black Bears scored the game’s first goal midway through the 2nd period as Menotti found the back of the net for his 4th goal of the season.
The lead swelled to 2-0 late in the 3rd period as Young scored for Maryland, his 2nd goal of the season, to put Maryland up by two goals. Late in the 3rd period with just :15 seconds remaining, Lake’s shutout bid was spoiled by a goal from Clark Kerner for the Generals, but it would be all Lake would allow on 39 shots, which was also his Black Bears debut.
Northeast goalie David Fessenden made 32 saves in the loss.
