Northeast Generals forward Wiesner makes NCAA commitment
March 21, 2018
The Northeast Generals, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward and assistant captain Matthew Wiesner has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Babson College.
Wiesner, 20, is in his final season of playing junior hockey in the NAHL. The 2017-18 season has been Wiesner’s best as he has recorded 37 points (19 goals, 18 assists) in 49 games played to date for the Generals.
The 5’7/166 lbs. native of Newport Beach, California, was also selected to and played in the 2018 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the East Division team, where he recorded an assist in two games played.
Wienser spent last season between the Generals and the New Jersey Titans. In 103 career NAHL regular season games, he has recorded 61 points.
"Matt is an incredibly hard worker who has done a great job improving his game this year. He came to the Generals via trade mid way through last season and has bought into what we are doing 100%. He went home after the season for three weeks and was right back working with head coach Joe Lovell everyday for three hours getting better, and it has shown in his game this year. As a Captain he is one of the main reasons for our great turnaround from last season to this one. He is just a great kid,” said Generals GM Bryan Erikson.
